For a standard legal entity with clear details in the official registry, an LEI is often issued the same day, sometimes within hours. How quickly it happens depends mainly on how easily the data can be validated against the registry.
What can take longer
Registration may take more time if:
- the entity sits in a registry that isn't fully digitised;
- the structure is complex (a fund, or a foreign or multi-level structure);
- additional supporting documents or parent-relationship evidence are required.
Renewal is usually faster than first registration, because the data has already been validated.
