Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about LEI registration

What is an LEI (Legal Entity Identifier)?

An LEI is a unique 20-character alphanumeric code that identifies legally distinct entities participating in financial transactions worldwide. It was introduced after the 2008 financial crisis to improve transparency and help regulators monitor systemic risk across global markets.

Who needs an LEI?

Any legal entity involved in financial transactions typically needs an LEI. This includes companies trading stocks, bonds, or derivatives; entities subject to EMIR, MiFID II, or SFTR reporting; banks and financial institutions; investment funds; and companies issuing securities.

How long does it take to get an LEI?

Most LEI applications are processed and issued within 24 hours of receiving a complete application and payment. In some cases, additional verification may extend this to 2–3 business days.

How much does an LEI cost?

Our pricing starts at competitive rates with significant discounts for multi-year plans. A 1-year registration is the simplest option, while 3- and 5-year plans offer the best per-year value. All prices are displayed transparently with no hidden fees.

What happens if my LEI expires?

An expired LEI changes its status to "Lapsed" in the GLEIF database. You will be unable to execute regulated financial transactions until the LEI is renewed. We send reminders before expiry so you can renew on time and avoid disruption.

Can I transfer my LEI from another provider?

Yes. You can transfer your existing LEI to Trusted LEI at any time. The process is straightforward — simply provide your LEI code and complete a Letter of Authorization, and we handle the rest with no downtime.

What information do I need to register?

You will need your entity's official legal name, registration number (from the business registry), registered address, and the name of the legal jurisdiction. For most EU entities, our system auto-fills data from official registries to speed up the process.

Is an LEI valid internationally?

Yes. The LEI is a global standard managed by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF). An LEI issued through any accredited agent is valid and recognised across all jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks worldwide.
