LEI Under SFTR
SFTR (the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation) extends the same logic as MiFID II and EMIR to securities financing transactions.
What SFTR requires
SFTR requires securities financing transactions — such as repos and securities lending — to be reported to trade repositories. As with EMIR, identifying each party in those reports requires an LEI.
Who it applies to
If your company engages in repos, securities lending or similar financing transactions, you need a valid LEI to meet the SFTR reporting obligation.
Supervision in Belgium
In Belgium, compliance with SFTR requirements is supervised by the FSMA (the Financial Services and Markets Authority).
